“Monday” Blues? Try Taskworld

by: John Coburn

Monday.com is a popular work management tool. However, if it’s not your cup of tea, you’re not alone. Each team has a different approach to collaboration. It’s only natural that not every tool works for them.

Monday.com can be intimidating if your team hasn’t used a work management tool before. If you’re looking for an easier yet robust alternative, give Taskworld a shot. Thousands of companies including market leaders like Rolex, Accor, Allianz, and Kodak trust it to manage their projects.

Here’s why Taskworld is the best alternative to Monday.com

1. Taskworld is optimized for Kanban flow

Kanban process is the easiest and most effective way to manage tasks. It allows you to visualize your work, measure progress and design your own workflow using interactive boards. Monday.com’s primary interface is based on tables. It added Kanban boards much later. Unlike Taskworld, Monday.com isn’t optimized for Kanban flow. This becomes quite evident when you start using boards to organize your work on it. Here are a few examples:

You can’t change board names from Kanban view on Monday.com. You first need to access the Table view, change the status name and then adjust filters again from the Kanban view. In Taskworld, all it requires is a simple click.

Similarly, to remove a task from your board/tasklist, on Monday.com, you first need to access task properties and then archive or delete it. In Taskworld, again all it requires is – one click.

Complete and restore tasks with just one click.

Monday.com lets you breakdown the task into checklist items. However, Taskworld goes one step further, allowing you to assign each checklist item separately to different assignees; turning checklist items into subtasks.

There are plenty more features in Taskworld, that Monday.com lacks such as the ability to attach files to tasks by simply dragging and dropping them and task points that mark the complexity of tasks. The kanban flow on Taskworld is a result of 6 years of fine-tuning and the entire tool is designed around it.

2. Taskworld offers ready-to-use overview dashboard

Any team that uses a work management tool eventually ends up creating dozens of projects. It becomes critical to have a bird’s eye view of the progress of your entire team. It’s also equally important to have the ability to cut through the noise and get specific insights. This is exactly what Taskworld’s overview dashboard does.

Taskworld’s overview dashboard comes with interactive charts and a collection of advanced filters. You can apply a combination of filters to get the insights you want. You can filter based on task creator, assignee, followers, projects, due date, and task status.

Monday.com also offers a dashboard but it’s not as intuitive. You need to manually set it up and it’s designed primarily for visualization, not filtering.

3. Taskworld has built-in team messaging

Communication is an indispensable part of work management. Team messaging needs to fit seamlessly into task management. That’s why instead of relying on half-baked integration, Taskworld offers a complete team messaging experience.

Monday.com doesn’t offer team messaging on its platform. On Taskworld, your team can communicate in the same place where they manage their projects, making it easier to consolidate all their work in one place.

Taskworld chat is fun and seamlessly built-in.

You can share direct messages and create private/public chat channels. It’s ideal for sharing ideas, broadcasting company updates, or simply sending cat gifs to your colleagues.

You can pin the colleagues whom you talk with frequently on the left navigation bar so that you can chat with them from anywhere on Taskworld. You can also share tasks via chat with your teammates.

You can pin teammates and chat channels on the left nav for quick access.

When talking to a colleague in a public channel, you can use @colleaguename to send them a direct notification. In addition to a popup notification on the app, if someone mentions you in a channel or sends a direct message, you’ll also receive a notification via email. Taskworld chat works seamlessly with email. All email replies automatically appear as messages on Taskworld. All message related notification settings can be modified.

4. Taskworld offers real-time performance feedback

Monday.com lacks performance feedback. Taskworld was the first work management tool to offer real-time performance feedback.

In Taskworld, whenever someone finishes a task assigned by you, you have the opportunity to give them feedback. You can also do so ad-hoc.

You can give real-time feedback to your colleagues on Taskworld.

All the feedback that you’ve given and received gets consolidated into a performance report. This comes in really handy during formal performance appraisals and ensures that the evaluation is evidence-based. Feedback has two parts:

  • Description: Messages that allow you to praise your team members or highlight areas of improvement. (e.g. “Your presentation was incredible”)
  • Company values: Badges that recognize behavior in line with your company’s values. You can create your own badges.

5. Taskworld is available on VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)

Monday.com is only available on the public cloud. However, there are many regulated industries where companies can’t store their data on a public cloud, even if it offers additional security options. That’s why Taskworld allows organizations to host their workspace on a virtual private cloud (VPC).

This gives you a choice of 18 data centers across the globe. In addition to that you also get:

  • Unlimited workspaces
  • Unlimited storage
  • Single Sign-on (SSO)
  • Super admin and read-only roles
  • Dedicated account manager
  • Enterprise-grade security options

6. Taskworld has an award-winning interface

We can continue to talk about features, but one of the most important aspects of any work management tool is its ease of use. You’ll spend hours on it every day. It needs to be clean and easy on the eye.

Taskworld’s user interface (UI) has received widespread critical acclaim from some of the world’s leading software review sites such as Capterra and G2 Crowd.
